Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Automation Technician to maintain and enhance automated systems in a Port Elizabeth production facility. You will troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and related control systems to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics and proven experience in manufacturing, with strong diagnostic skills, ability to read schematics, and a proactive approach to maintenance and

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Proven experience as Automation Technician in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI, and industrial networks.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated manufacturing equipment and control systems.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software issues related to PLCs, HMI, and robotics.
• Perform preventative maintenance on automation systems.
• Assist in design and implementation of new automation solutions and upgrades.
