Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Automation and Robotics Engineer for Pretoria-based industrial projects. You will design automated systems, program PLCs/HMIs, and integrate robotic cells, improving efficiency and safety across manufacturing lines.

The role requires a strong background in electrical/mechanical/mechatronics engineering, hands-on robotics experience, and proficiency with PLCs and robot controllers. Travel to sites in and around Pretoria is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in industrial automation, robotics and control systems.
• Proven PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and HMI development skills.
• Experience programming and integrating robots (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa).
• Strong electrical schematics, control panels and safety circuit knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automated systems and robotic cells for manufacturing and industrial applications.
• Program PLCs, HMIs, and robot controllers from multiple manufacturers.
• Integrate new robotic systems with existing machinery and production lines.
• Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for reliability.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control logic, and manuals.
• Provide feasibility studies and technical recommendations for automation projects.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project requirements.
• Stay updated on advancements in automation and robotics.
• Ensure safety standards compliance for automated systems.
