Job summary

Edgexec (Pty) Ltd is seeking an Automation & Control Engineer to design, implement, and optimize hardware and software control systems across PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI platforms. You will architect control networks, integrate sensors and drives, and program IEC 61131-3 applications.

Responsibilities include factory and site testing, commissioning, and ongoing support, with a focus on safety, cybersecurity, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience in PLC programming and system integration.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and AutoCAD.
• Proven troubleshooting capabilities.
• Familiarity with SIT (System Integration Testing).
• Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently.
• Relevant technical education or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and implement hardware and software control systems including PLC, DCS, SCADA, and HMI solutions.
• Develop control system architectures, industrial network layouts, and electrical schematics.
• Integrate sensors, actuators, drives, and safety instrumented systems.
• Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications using IEC 61131-3 programming languages.
• Lead or support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, loop checks, and commissioning activities.
• Provide tier-2 and tier-3 technical support for complex automation and control faults.
• Perform system backups, upgrades, cybersecurity patching, and hardware maintenance.
• Maintain technical documentation for control systems and modifications.
• Support risk assessments, safety lifecycle activities, and functional safety verification.
