Job summary

Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng, seeks an Automation and Control Engineer to design, develop, and implement advanced control systems for industrial clients. You will lead PLC/HMI/SCADA projects, integrate robotics, and optimize processes to improve efficiency and reliability.

The ideal candidate has a 5-year track record in industrial automation, proficiency with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, and Schneider PLCs, and experience with FactoryTalk View, WinCC, or Ignition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in industrial automation and control systems.
• Proficiency in programming multiple PLC platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric).
• Experience with HMI/SCADA software (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition).
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
• Familiarity with robotics programming is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to travel occasionally for project needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for various industrial applications.
• Develop automation strategies and architectures to meet client requirements.
• Integrate robotic systems and other automated equipment into existing processes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to define project scope and deliverables.
• Create detailed documentation, including control narratives, user manuals, and test procedures.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in automation technology and industry best practices.
• Provide technical support and training to clients and end-users.
• Conduct site visits and assessments as required for project implementation and support.
