Job summary

Placements24 in Vereeniging, Gauteng, seeks an experienced Automation and Control Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support automated industrial systems.

You will work with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and robotics, with a hybrid model that blends client site visits, on-site work, and remote design.

A Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics and 4+ years in automation are required, along with strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Proficiency with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron PLC platforms.
• Experience with SCADA (Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC) and HMI design.
• Strong knowledge of industrial networks (Profibus, Ethernet/IP).

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation projects.
• Develop and implement control strategies to optimize manufacturing processes and machine performance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with automation systems, providing timely solutions.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their automation requirements and provide technical expertise.
• Perform system integration, ensuring seamless communication between different automation components.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including control system architecture, logic diagrams, and user manuals.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments to identify automation opportunities.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in automation technology, robotics, and Industry 4.0 concepts.
• Ensure all automation solutions comply with relevant safety standards and industry regulations.
• Support the installation and start-up of automated equipment.
