Placements24 is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for a busy retail operation in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will support the Store Manager with daily operations, supervise staff, and drive sales while delivering outstanding customer service.

You will oversee merchandising, stock control, POS transactions, scheduling, and HR tasks, while fostering a high-performing team in a welcoming store environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a supervisor or assistant manager in retail.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Strong customer service skills with a passion for retail.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Familiarity with stock management and POS systems.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Proactive approach to problem solving.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in business or retail is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Supervise, train, and motivate a team of sales associates to achieve sales targets and provide exceptional customer service.
• Ensure merchandise is attractively displayed, accurately priced, and well-stocked according to visual merchandising standards.
• Monitor inventory levels, participate in stocktakes, and implement measures to prevent loss and minimize shrinkage.
• Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a professional and timely manner, aiming for first-contact resolution.
• Support the implementation of sales promotions, marketing initiatives, and store events.
• Ensure the store environment is clean, organized, and welcoming for all customers.
• Assist with staff scheduling, payroll, and adherence to HR policies.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
• Contribute to achieving overall store sales and profitability goals.
