Job summary

Farm Manager SA in Limpopo is seeking an experienced farm supervisor to oversee planting, spraying, and harvesting operations. The role involves hands-on harvesting with a JD Harvester and gradually taking on cattle farming responsibilities on a progressive farm setting.

The candidate should have a farming background, be proactive, and able to motivate staff, with a valid driver’s license and computer literacy helping day-to-day management.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Agriculture is advantageous.
• Farming background is essential.
• Min 3 years farming experience.
• Experience with maize & soya cropping and cattle.
• Computer literacy required.
• Experience with large combine harvesters and planting equipment.
• Drone crop spraying experience preferred.
• Remote Pilots Licence advantageous.
• Proactive, independent, ownership mindset.
• Mechanically & maintenance oriented.
• Able to motivate staff.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planting equipment and spray programs to keep equipment in good condition.
• Supervise planting process and spraying activities.
• Personally participate in harvesting with JD Harvester.
• Begin involvement in cattle farming activities.
• Perform any other duties as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Previous experience with:
  • Cropping – maize & soya
  • Livestock – cattle
• Computer literate
• Proven experience working with large combine harvesters and planting equipment
• Previous drone crop spraying experience
• Remote Pilots Licence advantageous
• Somebody who can take ownership, come up with new ideas, and works independently and proactively
• Being mechanically & maintenance orientated
• Ability to work with and motivate staff essential
• Valid driver’s license

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• See that planting equipment and Poison Spray remain in good condition
• Supervise planting process and spraying
• Do the harvesting in person at harvest time with JD Harvester
• Gradually get involved in cattle farming
• Any other duty that may come into question.
