Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Support month-end and year-end financial close processes and reporting.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger, bank, supplier, customer, inventory and fixed asset accounts.
• Collaborate with farm managers to strengthen cost control and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.

The purpose of this position is to ensure the integrity of transactions captured and to support the Management Accountants with preparation and review of financial information.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Cost and Management Accounting, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• SAIPA qualification or professional membership would be an advantage.

Experience

• 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role required
• Working knowledge in the use of financial software applications and databases
• ERP system working knowledge, e.g. SAP or BAAN and Infor LN system knowledge advantageous
• Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced in MS Excel

The ideal candidate will be responsible for

• The role will report to the Management Accountant
• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Support month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger, bank, supplier, customer, inventory, and fixed asset accounts.
• Monitor agricultural operating costs and analyse financial performance against budgets, identifying variances and recommending improvements.
• Support cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting across farms, production units, and agricultural projects.
• Prepare financial schedules and documentation for management reporting and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with farm managers and operational teams to strengthen cost control and financial accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls while maintaining high levels of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
• Contribute to process improvements and provide ad hoc financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Implementation and maintenance of the 20 keys Operational Improvement programmes.

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements

• Completed Grade 12 with a related tertiary qualification is essential
• 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role required
• Working knowledge in the use of financial software applications and databases
• ERP system working knowledge, e.g. SAP or BAAN and Infor LN system knowledge advantageous
• Microsoft Office Suite – Advanced in MS Excel
• Key requirements include being commercially sound, deadline driven and having attention to detail.
• The ideal candidate should be hardworking, honest, self-motivated and disciplined and be able to work under pressure.
• It is essential that the candidate have a passion for implementing and maintaining a continuous workplace improvement program (20 Keys).
