Job summary

Mirna Butler Recruitment is seeking a highly capable Financial Accountant to join their client’s Krugersdorp office. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records and supporting sound financial decision-making, requiring a minimum of 5 years in a financial accounting position.

The incumbent will manage general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end and year-end processes, IFRS reporting, budgets and forecasts, and liaise with auditors.

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting, BCompt or similar degree is required
• Matric with Mathematics and Accounting is essential
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a Financial Accountant position or similar financial role
• Computer literacy: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Syspro
• Experience in multi-entity or group structures advantageous
• Experience in agricultural/farming environment advantageous but not essential
• Knowledge of SA tax, statutory and regulatory requirements advantageous
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English
• Strong accounting knowledge to prepare, analyse and interpret financial statements
• Ability to work with various departments and communicate financial info clearly
• Willing to work full-time from the Krugersdorp head office

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities

• Process and manage general ledger entries and journals, ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded and properly allocated

• Prepare and process journal entries in accordance with applicable accounting procedures and financial requirements

• Perform regular account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies where required

• Provide support with month-end processes, ensuring that financial information is accurately captured and reconciled within required deadlines

• Assist with year-end processes and ensure that all relevant financial records and supporting documentation are prepared accurately

• Compile financial reports to provide accurate and relevant financial information to management

• Prepare annual IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) financial statements in accordance with applicable reporting requirements

• Provide support with the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts

• Monitor cost allocations to ensure that costs are accurately allocated to the appropriate accounts, departments, or areas of the business

• Prepare financial analyses to support management with informed financial decision-making

• Use SYSPRO as the accounting system to capture, process, maintain, and retrieve relevant financial information

• Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards, legislation, policies, and accounting requirements

• Liaise with auditors by providing relevant financial information, supporting documentation, and assistance during audit processes

• Work closely with operational teams to support effective financial control within the farming environment

• Monitor financial information and transactions to support accurate financial control and reporting

• Assist with identifying financial discrepancies and provide relevant information to support corrective actions

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation in line with accounting and reporting requirements
