Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking a seasoned Security Manager to lead risk assessment, client liaison, and disciplinary processes in the region near Glencore Coal. The role requires supervision of manpower and equipment, incident investigations, and strict adherence to SOPs.

Applicants should possess a security management qualification, strong reporting skills, and valid firearms/SAPS competencies. Relocation within 50km of Glencore Coal is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in threat and risk assessment analyses.
• Proven ability to liaise with clients and manage relationships.
• Manpower and equipment management responsibilities.
• Experience in incident investigations and disciplinary processes.
• Ability to ensure compliance with SOPs and contractual requirements.
• Experience with firearms training and SAPS competency where applicable.
• Knowledge of mining investigations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Conduct threat and risk assessment analyses.
• Liaise with clients and maintain professional relationships.
• Proactively address operational issues with clients.
• Manage manpower and equipment.
• Handle client complaints effectively.
• Ensure contractual requirements are met at all times.
• Manage incidents and investigations.
• Ensure compliance with the company’s disciplinary code.
• Initiate and chair disciplinary hearings.
• Assist with IR issues as they arise.
• Follow BPC and Glencore SOPs.
• Coal and illegal mining investigations experience is advantageous.
• Coordinate firearm training (Handgun/Shotgun) and SAPS competency.
• Relocate within 50km vicinity of Glencore Coal.

Responsibilities

• Threat and Risk assessment analyses;
• Client liaison and professional client relationship;
• Initiative to approach client pro-actively on operational issues;
• Manpower management;
• Equipment management;
• Effectively dealing with and managing client complaints;
• Ensure that contractual requirements are met at all times;
• Incident and investigations management;
• Ensure compliance to the Company’s disciplinary code;
• Initiating and chairing disciplinary hearings;
• Assisting with IR issues as and when they arise;
• Ensure all BPC and Glencore SOP’S are followed
• Coal and illegal mining investigation/intelligence experience would be advantageous
• Business Purpose firearm training for Handgun/Shotgun
• SAPS Competency for Handgun/Shotgun;
• NQF Level 5 in generic management training
• Computer literate and proficient in report writing.
• Must be able to relocate to 50km vicinity of Glencore Coal;

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills

• PSIRA certification – Grade A;
• Tertiary degree or diploma in Security Management;
• At least 06 to 08 years proven Supervision or Management experience;
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification;
• Gold and illegal mining investigation/intelligence experience would be advantageous;
• Business Purpose firearm training for Handgun/Shotgun/Rifle
• SAPS Competency for Handgun/Shotgun/Rifle;
• National Key point training;
• Bilingual (English and any other South African Language);
• The ability to communicate and present at all levels;
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills;
• Working knowledge of MS office (Outlook/Word/PowerPoint/Excel)
• The ability to work under pressure and long hours;
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit record;
• Code 08 driver’s license and valid PDP;
• Must be able to relocate to 50km vicinity of Secunda;
