Job summary

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking a seasoned security professional to lead operations, manage manpower and incidents, and ensure client satisfaction. The role requires senior-level experience in risk assessments, disciplinary processes, and policy adherence, with a strong focus on safety and compliance within high-pressure environments.

You will oversee daily operations, train staff, attend urgent meetings, and ensure disciplinary procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• PSIRA Grade A certification is required.
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification is required.
• Firearm competency and Regulation 21 certificate is an advantage.
• Experience in a managerial or similar position is preferred.
• Knowledge of risk management, business impact analysis and contingency planning.
• Knowledge of access security control tools to prevent unauthorized access.
• Confident dealing with the public.
• Bilingual (English and another SA language).
• Ability to work under pressure.
• First aid and fire-fighting training is advantageous.
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit record.
• Own reliable transport and valid Code 8 driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Security advice to clients.
• Threat and risk assessments/reporting.
• Client liaison and professional client relationship.
• Manpower management and rostering.
• Equipment management.
• Handle client complaints effectively.
• Ensure contractual requirements are met.
• Incident investigations management.
• Ensure compliance with disciplinary code.
• Initiate and chair disciplinary hearings.
• Ensure SOPs are followed.
• Health and safety management.
• Resolve security officers’ issues reported.
• Follow all Bidvest Protea Coin policies and procedures.
• Attend after-hours visits.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Ensure training takes place when required.
• Assist with shift changes as standby manager.
• Attend meetings and take urgent calls on rest days.
• Demonstrate extensive knowledge of security best practices for physical and logical information security.

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

• PSIRA certification – Grade A.
• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
• Firearm competency and a valid regulation 21 certificate is an advantage.
• Relevant experience in a managerial or similar position.
• Knowledge of methods and techniques of risk management, business impact analysis, counter measures, and contingency arrangements relation to the serious disruption of IT services.
• Knowledge of tools or systems which provides access security control (i.e prevents authorized system access;)
• Must have confidence in dealing with the public.
• Bilingual (English and any other South African Language).
• The ability to work under pressure.
• First aid and fire-fighting training will be advantageous.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Computer literate and knowledge of MS office.
• Must be willing to undergo polygraph test.
• Clean disciplinary, criminal and credit record.
• Own reliable transport and driver’s license cod 8.
