Job summary

AHRI in Durban seeks an Asset Engineering Manager to lead the facilities management unit, guiding asset management policy and long-term infrastructure plans. The role supervises maintenance teams and drives initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and lifecycle value.

The candidate will implement preventative maintenance, oversee HVAC and building systems, and ensure safety compliance under OHS Act while communicating technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Matric or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• GCC for Factories.
• 5–10 years in plant/maintenance engineering; 5+ years in supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction by interpreting objectives and setting asset management goals.
• Oversee plant machinery and utilities to maximize performance and reliability.
• Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OHS Act).
• Lead engineering teams, including technicians and assistants.
• Conduct failure analysis to improve plant performance.
• Develop asset management systems and design specifications.
• Communicate complex products or concepts to customers effectively.
