Job summary

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking a passionate Junior Pastry Chef for a prestige 5-star boutique hotel in Franschhoek, Western Cape. Develop pastry skills within a luxury hospitality environment, working with an experienced kitchen team to create exceptional pastries, desserts and baked goods.

Requirements include pastry kitchen experience, preferably in luxury settings, and a culinary qualification in pastry or baking. R13,000 - R14,000 per month depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in a pastry kitchen, preferably within a luxury hotel or fine dining.
• Formal pastry or baking qualification advantageous.
• Passion for pastry, baking and dessert preparation with willingness to learn.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Good organizational skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation, production and presentation of pastries, desserts, cakes and baked goods.
• Support pastry team to maintain high standards of quality, taste and presentation.
• Prepare ingredients and ensure recipes are followed accurately.
• Mise en place and ensure pastry section is ready for service.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and food safety in the pastry kitchen.
• Manage stock and rotate ingredients to minimise wastage.
• Collaborate with Head Pastry Chef and kitchen team for smooth operations.
• Contribute ideas for seasonal desserts and menu offerings.
• Ensure pastry items meet 5-star boutique hotel standards.
