You will assist in food prep, maintain mise en place, and follow recipes and standards while developing your culinary skills in a dynamic hotel kitchen environment. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12) is required.
• Recognised Culinary qualification essential for the role.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a professional kitchen environment.
• Previous experience as a Commis Chef in a hotel/restaurant/high-volume kitchen preferred.
• Experience in busy 4- or 5-star hotel environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and cooking across kitchen sections.
• Maintain mise en place and readiness for service.
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards.
• Support senior chefs during busy service periods.
• Ensure food quality, consistency and presentation meet standards.
• Maintain clean, hygienic and well-organised workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, HACCP and kitchen safety procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation and minimizing waste.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen team during prep and service.
• Develop culinary knowledge through exposure to different techniques.
