Job summary

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates for the position of Artisan Fitter to be placed in Tharisa Mine. The successful candidate will report to the General Engineering Foreman and will be responsible for installations, maintenance and repairs to engineering equipment at height, underground and surface.

Minimum 5 years mining experience (underground and surface) and 5 years trade experience as a Fitter are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
• Certificate through a registered body (e.g., a trade cert).
• Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower.
• Good communication in English.
• Code EB driver’s license valid.
• First Aid certificate valid.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cost containment and achieve high mean time to failure after repairs.
• Provide competent, motivated team and effective supervision.
• Ensure engineering installations are built to standards, procedures and specs.
• Maintain and repair engineering equipment per schedules and standards.
• Comply with SHEQ, company and client safety policies and procedures.

Cementation Africa invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Artisan Fitter to be placed in Tharisa Mine. The successful candidate will report to the General Engineering Foreman.The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates.Applications only open to South African Citizens / Permanent Residents.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Cost containment, high mean time to failure after repairs
• Competent, motivated, disciplined and positive team
• Effective self and team supervision in alignment with Cementation Africa values and leadership initiatives
• Engineering installations are constructed according to agreed standards, procedures and specifications
• Engineering equipment is maintained according to agreed standards, procedures and schedules
• Engineering equipment is repaired according to agreed standards, procedures and schedules
• Compliance with SHEQ, Cementaion Africa and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent
• Certificate through a registered body, e.g.:
• Contract of Apprenticeship signed off by employer and Department of Manpower
• Good communication skill in English
• Valid Code EB driver's license
• Valid First Aid certificate
• Medically fit to work underground
• Height tolerance - ability to work at heights

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• 5 year's mining industry experience (underground and surface)
• 5 year's trade experience as a Fitter
