Job summary

Premier FMCG (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to safeguard the efficiency of on‑site equipment and plant. You will handle electrical support, troubleshoot machine reliability, and drive continuous improvement within a fast‑paced FMCG environment.

The role requires hands‑on maintenance experience (3–5 years), a relevant N3/N4 and a Red Seal trade, with strong PLC/SCADA knowledge and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

• N3/N4 qualification or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Trade certification recognised in the maintenance trade (Red Seal).
• 3–5 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in a relevant trade.
• Experience in FMCG environments and high‑speed operations.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate machine reliability issues and take action to ensure production continuity.
• Lead problem‑solving and drive continuous improvement with maintenance team.
• Record breakdown trends and analyze data to justify equipment upgrades.
• Support ad hoc projects like refurbishment, installation, and commissioning to optimise flow.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health Safety and GMP requirements through SOPs and controls.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching for Handyman and Apprentices as needed.
• Supervise, train, and coach Technical Operators on SOPs and work instructions.

Job Purposes

To maintain the overall effectiveness of equipment and the plants on site which includes Electrical support.

Key Responsibilities

• To anticipate possible machine reliability problems, which could appear and take appropriate actions to ensure manufacturing process continuity.


• To facilitate and lead problem solving processes; provide inputs/suggestions to the maintenance team leader for continuous improvement.


• To record and analyse breakdown trends per machine using a maintenance system in order to motivate equipment improvement or purchases.


• To render support on ad hoc projects e.g., renovate and refurbish machines/installations and commission in order to optimize process flow.


• To ensure compliance with relevant Food Safety, Health Safety and GMP Requirements through the maintenance of process and document controls according to SOP's


• To provide on job coaching for Handyman and Apprentices as and when required in line with Premier's Leadership promise.


• To supervise, train and coach Technical Operators regarding SOP's and work instructions to ensure best operating practices.

Experience And Qualifications

• N3/N4 Qualification in Relevant field


• Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)


• 3-5 years' experience in relevant trade


• 3 years' experience in a FMCG environment


• Experience with High-Speed Continuous Operations
