Responsabilités

About the Role Our client, a well-established community sports complex in Upington, Northern Cape, is seeking a qualified and experienced Aquatics Manager & Head Lifeguard. This critical role involves overseeing all aquatic operations, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons, and managing the lifeguard team. Responsibilities include developing and enforcing safety protocols, coordinating swimming lessons and aquatic programs, maintaining pool facilities, and leading a team of vigilant lifeguards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aquatic safety management, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to providing a high-quality, safe swimming environment for the Upington community.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all aquatic facilities, including swimming pools and surrounding areas.
• Develop, implement, and enforce all aquatic safety policies and procedures.
• Manage and schedule the lifeguard team, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
• Conduct regular in-service training, evaluations, and drills for lifeguards.
• Oversee the scheduling and delivery of swimming lessons and aquatic fitness programs.
• Ensure all pool equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.
• Respond effectively to emergencies, administer first aid, and manage incident reports.
• Manage the aquatics budget, including staffing, supplies, and maintenance costs.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and program participation.li>
• Provide excellent customer service to patrons, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.

Requirements

• Current Lifeguard certification from a recognized authority (e.g., RLSS, ILS).
• Advanced certifications such as Lifeguard Instructor, First Aid Instructor, or Pool Operator are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in lifeguarding, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role within an aquatic setting.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing aquatic safety plans.
• Strong knowledge of pool operations, water chemistry, and maintenance procedures.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in emergency situations.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Experience working in Upington or the Northern Cape region is an advantage.
