Placements24 is seeking an Apprentice Chef for a renowned fine-dining house in Benoni, Gauteng. You'll train under an award-winning Head Chef and a team of sous chefs, mastering classical and contemporary techniques in a high-pressure kitchen.

Qualifications

• Completed Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
• Genuine passion for cooking and the culinary industry.
• Previous kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and cooking of various dishes according to established recipes and standards.
• Learn and practice proper food handling, storage, and sanitation techniques.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workstations, equipment, and utensils.
• Support senior chefs in mise en place, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients.
• Gain experience in different sections of the kitchen, such as garde manger, pastry, and hot range.
• Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring consistency and adherence to fine-dining standards.
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation.
• Learn about menu planning and costing from experienced chefs.
• Contribute to a positive and efficient team environment in the kitchen.
