Job summary

South African Airways (Pty) Ltd. seeks a Mechanic for the Technical Peak Season Pool in Kempton Park. The Aviation Technician will perform maintenance, servicing and repairs on aircraft engines, airframes and components in line with task cards and regulatory requirements.

A strong emphasis is placed on safety, documentation and teamwork. The role requires AME-related qualifications, a Grade 12 and an Aviation Apprenticeship, with experience in hangar or workshop settings.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent - Essential
• Passed Aviation Apprenticeship and Trade Test - Essential
• Must hold current AME license - Advantageous
• Driver's license Code B - Essential
• Hold certification - Advantageous
• Completed Apprenticeship and have 2 years' experience in a hangar or workshop
• Computer literate on AMOS and management reports
• Have a valid Code B driver's license

Responsibilities

• Perform servicing, inspections, repairs, overhauls, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and modifications on aircraft components in compliance with regulations.
• Operate and maintain tooling and test equipment per approved documentation.
• Inspect parts/components per regulatory requirements and implement corrective actions.
• Plan and process parts.
• Follow work instructions and report progress to Senior Technician/Production Leader.
• Maintain documentation and records for each task.
• Attend meetings/training/workshops as requested.
• Ensure safe working environment and housekeeping.
• Move spares to repair cycles and manage stores.
• Create repair documentation and archives for released components.
