About the Role

Our client is looking for a reliable and skilled Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to join their essential support team in Soweto . This role is critical for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of airport ground services by maintaining and repairing the diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment used to service aircraft. You will be responsible for inspections, preventative maintenance, and timely repairs of GSE, ensuring operational readiness for all ground handling activities. This is a hands-on role vital to the efficient functioning of airport operations within the Gauteng aviation hub .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance on a variety of GSE, including tugs, belt loaders, de-icing trucks, and baggage carts.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on GSE fleet.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance performed, including parts used and labor hours.
• Ensure all GSE meets safety standards and regulatory requirements for airport operations.
• Operate GSE safely and efficiently when required for testing or repositioning.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide on-the-spot repairs to minimize operational impact.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a GSE Technician , Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or a related mechanical field.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations applicable to airport ground operations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• A valid driver's license is required; a forklift or specialized equipment operator certification is a plus.
