Placements24 is seeking an AI Solutions Architect in Pretoria to design end-to-end AI/ML architectures for financial services, translating complex business needs into scalable, robust, and secure solutions.

You will lead technical teams, develop proofs-of-concept, ensure regulatory alignment (POPIA, FICA), and collaborate with clients, product managers, data scientists, and engineers to drive digital transformation and adoption of AI technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering/Data Science.
• 7+ years in software architecture or solution design; 4+ years in AI/ML.
• Experience in financial services architecture.
• Strong knowledge of AI/ML algorithms and tools.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and their AI services.
• Experience with data engineering and big data tech.
• Understanding of software development and MLOps.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical designs.

About the Role

This role, based in Pretoria, Gauteng, focuses on designing and delivering innovative AI-powered solutions for the financial services industry. You will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into scalable, robust, and secure AI architectures. This involves collaborating closely with clients, product teams, data scientists, and engineers to ensure successful implementation and adoption of AI technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of AI/ML principles, cloud computing, and the unique challenges and opportunities within the FinServ sector. Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end AI/ML solutions tailored to the financial services industry, including applications in fraud detection, risk management, customer analytics, and algorithmic trading.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into technical specifications and architectural designs.
• Evaluate and select appropriate AI/ML technologies, platforms, and tools for solution development.
• Oversee the implementation and integration of AI solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop proof-of-concepts (POCs) and prototypes to demonstrate the value of proposed AI solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in software architecture or solution design, with at least 4 years focused on AI/ML solutions.
• Proven experience architecting solutions within the financial services sector is essential.
• Strong understanding of various AI/ML algorithms, techniques, and tools (e.g., supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, NLP).
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their AI/ML services.
• Experience with data engineering concepts and big data technologies.
• Excellent understanding of software development principles and MLOps.
• Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
