Job summary

OVK is seeking a Procurement Category Manager for agricultural inputs (chemicals, fertiliser and seed) across its branches in the Free State. You will drive product ranges, central stock planning, seasonal demand and supplier coordination.

Minimum requirements include at least 5 years in agri-chemicals and related categories, with AS400 experience preferred. The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork and a service orientation, with a permanent contract.

Qualifications

• Strong practical and technical knowledge of agricultural chemicals, fertilizer and seed; at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in product categories, suppliers, pricing, seasonal demand planning and inventory management.
• Experience with central purchasing, supplier agreements and stock supply to a agricultural retail branch network is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily product range, assortment and data for agricultural chemicals, fertilizer and seed per strategy.
• Plan and place purchases for branches and central stock points based on seasonal demand and lead times.
• Monitor stock availability, stock age, expiry dates and stockouts.
• Obtain and compare quotations, confirm delivery times and follow up with suppliers.
• Maintain costs, selling prices, product specs, registration info and supplier data with administration.
• Coordinate new product lines, training and promotional information with safety requirements.
• Support branches with product selection, technical inquiries, seasonal planning and customer quotes.
• Coordinate supplier returns and credit notes with Purchasing Assistant.
• Submit weekly reports and monthly performance reports to Purchasing Manager.
