Placements24 is looking for an Aftercare Supervisor & Activity Coordinator for a Bloemfontein school. You will supervise 6–12-year-olds after school, lead a variety of activities, and ensure a safe, engaging environment.

Applicants should have experience with children, strong planning and communication skills, and a genuine passion for education. This is a part-time role with afternoon hours at the school premises.

Qualifications

• Experience with aftercare, childcare or youth programs.
• Understanding of child development for primary school children.
• First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
• Reside in or can commute to Bloemfontein.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children aged 6–12 after school hours to ensure safety.

About the Role

Our client, a reputable school in Bloemfontein , Free State, is seeking a responsible and engaging Aftercare Supervisor & Activity Coordinator. This role is responsible for the safe supervision and enrichment of primary school-aged children during the aftercare program. The ideal candidate will create a structured yet fun environment, planning and leading various activities that cater to the children's interests and developmental needs. This position requires excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude, and a genuine passion for working with children. The role is based at the school premises in Bloemfontein .

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise children aged 6-12 years during aftercare hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Plan, organize, and lead a variety of engaging activities, including homework assistance, arts and crafts, sports, and educational games.
• Create a positive, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the children.
• Manage daily routines, including snack distribution and ensuring children complete homework assignments.
• Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's day and any concerns.
• Ensure the aftercare area is kept clean, organized, and safe at all times.
• Adhere to school policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
• Manage behavioral issues constructively and appropriately.
• Sign children in and out of the aftercare program.
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure a smooth transition from the school day to the aftercare program.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children in an aftercare, childcare, or youth program setting.
• Strong understanding of child development for primary school-aged children.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and activity leadership skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and staff.
• Patience, creativity, and a responsible demeanor.
• First Aid and CPR certification is highly preferred.
• Ability to manage a group of children effectively.
• Reside in or be able to commute to Bloemfontein, Free State .
• Valid background check and references.
