Job summary

Au Pair Extraordinaire in Parkhurst, Johannesburg seeks an Afrikaans-speaking tutor for two children in Grade 1 and Grade 3. The tutor will supervise homework, assist with school projects, and ensure understanding for tests and exams.

Role is part-time, permanent, with hours Monday to Thursday from 16:00 to 17:00. Start date January 2027. Fluency in Afrikaans and a teaching-related background are highly valued; a car and references are required.

Qualifications

• Fluent Afrikaans required for communication with children and schoolwork.
• Experience tutoring or teaching is preferred, especially with primary school children.
• Must have reliable transport and be able to commute to Parkhurst, JHB.

A family is looking for an AFRIKAANS SPEAKING TUTOR for their 2 children

Duties:

Assist and oversee homework is done, ad hoc school projects when they come up, answer any questions, ensure they understand all their work and are well prepared for test and exams.

Special Requirements:

The ideal candidate is someone who is thorough and able to assist both children with all school an academic needs. Someone who double checks the work is done correctly with no spelling errors, etc. We are looking for a tutor with experience or a teacher / studying towards their teaching degree would be a huge benefit (but NOT a deal breaker). The candidate should be fluent in Afrikaans as the kids go to an Afrikaans school and all the homework etc. will be in Afrikaans.

Start Date & Contract Term:

January 2027 – permanent

Salary:

R350 – R400 per hour

All Au Pair Extraordinaire applicants must fill the following requirements:

• Must have at least 12 consecutive months of formal child caring experience, excluding work done for friends and family. This experience must be within the last 2 years.
• Must have their own, reliable car and at least 18 months driving experience.
• Must have at least 2 contactable childcare references.
• Must have a clear criminal record
• Must have a passion for children
• Must have Matric
• Must have a South African ID document.
