Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or related)
• 7+ years in quality assurance, with ≥3 years in management in aerospace
• Knowledge of aerospace standards AS9100 and ISO 9001
• Experience developing and implementing a QMS, audits, and CAPA processes
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and inspection techniques in aerospace
• Leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to drive cross‑functional teams

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with aerospace standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
• Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance and drive improvements.
• Oversee product inspection, testing, and validation against specifications.
• Investigate non-conformities and implement CAPA with effectiveness tracking.
• Manage supplier quality programs including supplier audits and evaluations.

About the Role

Our client, a distinguished player in the aerospace manufacturing sector, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Aerospace Quality Assurance Manager to lead their quality initiatives in **Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape**. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all products and processes meet the highest industry standards for safety, reliability, and performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's Quality Management System (QMS), conducting audits, and driving continuous improvement. This **Hybrid** position allows for a blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility, optimizing operational efficiency and employee engagement. You will be a key figure in upholding the stringent quality requirements of the **Port Elizabeth** aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in line with aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100).
• Conduct internal and external audits to assess compliance with QMS requirements and identify areas for improvement.
• Oversee product inspection, testing, and validation processes to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Investigate non-conformities, implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and track their effectiveness.
• Manage supplier quality assurance programs, including supplier audits and performance evaluations.
• Lead and mentor the Quality Assurance team, fostering a culture of quality excellence.
• Prepare quality reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and areas of concern.
• Ensure all quality-related documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
• Stay abreast of evolving aerospace quality standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to address quality issues proactively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or related) or a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role within the aerospace industry.
• In-depth knowledge of aerospace quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing QMS, conducting audits, and managing CAPA processes.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and inspection techniques common in the aerospace sector.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and quality management software.
• Ability to effectively manage teams and drive consensus across departments.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies.
