Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced aerospace components in George, Western Cape. You will design and validate complex parts meeting stringent aerospace requirements and work with engineering and manufacturing teams in a hybrid setting.

The role covers 3D CAD modeling (CATIA/SolidWorks), FEA analysis, BOM management, prototype support, and ensuring compliance with AS9100 and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience, aerospace preferred.
• Expert 3D CAD in CATIA/SolidWorks and FEA tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and sub-systems for aerospace applications, adhering to strict industry specifications and performance criteria.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and precise manufacturing drawings using advanced CAD software.
• Perform rigorous engineering analyses, including stress, thermal, vibration, and fatigue analysis using FEA tools.
• Ensure designs meet all relevant aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100) and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, quality assurance teams, and suppliers to ensure designs are producible and meet quality standards.
• Manage design documentation, including BOMs, design reports, and change orders.
• Support prototype development, testing, and validation activities, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
• Investigate and resolve design-related issues that may arise during production or field operation.
