Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a Mossel Bay facility to design high-performance aerospace components. You will handle conceptualization through prototyping, leveraging CATIA/SolidWorks and FEA tools like ANSYS/Abaqus, with emphasis on GD&T and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Expert proficiency in 3D CAD and FEA.
• Experience with GD&T.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications using advanced CAD software.
• Perform detailed stress, thermal, and vibration analysis (FEA) to ensure component integrity and performance under extreme conditions.
• Create comprehensive manufacturing drawings, specifications, and tolerancing (GD&T) documentation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly, and cost-effectiveness.
• Support testing and validation activities, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
• Ensure designs comply with aerospace standards (AS9100, FAA/EASA).
• Work closely with systems engineers to integrate mechanical components into larger aerospace systems.
• Prepare technical documentation for design reviews and regulatory submissions.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous technical improvement.
