ADMITTED LITIGATION ATTORNEY

Northern Suburbs, Cape Town

Salary: Market Related

A well-established and respected legal practice in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs is seeking an experienced Admitted Litigation Attorney to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident litigation professional with strong High Court and Magistrate’s Court experience, exceptional drafting skills, and the ability to manage matters independently from consultation through to trial or arbitration.

Key Responsibilities

• Consult with clients and counsel and provide sound, practical legal advice.
• Manage complex litigation matters from inception to conclusion.
• Conduct legal research and analyse legal precedents and probable outcomes.
• Draft pleadings, legal opinions, correspondence, applications and other legal documents.
• Prepare matters for High Court, Magistrate’s Court, tribunal and arbitration proceedings.
• Gather, assess and compile evidence.
• Brief and liaise with counsel where required.
• Handle litigation with minimal reliance on advocates where appropriate.
• Represent clients in civil litigation, hearings and arbitrations.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and legal documentation.
• Build and maintain strong, professional client relationships.

Minimum Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 2 years’ post-admission litigation experience.
• Proven High Court and Magistrate’s Court litigation experience.
• Commercial litigation experience is highly advantageous.
• Exceptional legal drafting ability.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and client-facing skills.
• Strong problem‑solving ability.
• Able to work independently and manage a demanding caseload.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced legal environment.
• Strong leadership qualities.
• Computer literate.
• Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
