Placements24 is seeking an Associate Litigation Attorney for their George office to handle a demanding civil litigation caseload, from pleadings to trial preparation.

You will conduct legal research, draft documents, and represent clients in courts, mediations, and arbitrations, while collaborating with senior attorneys and maintaining client relationships in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• LLB degree from an accredited university.
• Admitted attorney in South Africa with a Fidelity Fund certificate.
• 3–5 years of civil litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil litigation matters from pleadings to resolution.
• Conduct legal research and draft persuasive memos.
• Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Draft and review summonses, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
• Coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of civil litigation cases from inception to resolution, including pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research, analyze case law, and prepare persuasive legal arguments.
• Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Draft and review legal documents such as summonses, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
• Liaise effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
• Assist senior attorneys on complex cases and contribute to team strategy development.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
• Admission as an attorney in South Africa, with a valid Fidelity Fund certificate.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience specifically in civil litigation .
• Demonstrated ability in legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy.
• Strong understanding of South African civil procedure rules and evidence law.
• Excellent client management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
