Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Progress towards actuarial qualifications (e.g., Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries) is essential.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in actuarial analysis within the insurance industry.
• Strong proficiency in actuarial modelling software (e.g., Prophet, R, Python) and MS Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong understanding of insurance products, financial reporting, and regulatory frameworks.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be based in or able to relocate to Pretoria, South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial projections.
• Conduct thorough analysis of financial data to identify key risks and opportunities.
• Assist in the valuation of liabilities and the assessment of capital requirements.
• Perform data analysis and interpretation to support business decisions.
• Collaborate with various departments, including finance, underwriting, and product development.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting standards for insurance in Gauteng.
• Contribute to the development of new insurance products by providing actuarial input.
• Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations for management and regulatory bodies.
• Stay current with actuarial methodologies, industry trends, and relevant technologies.
• Mentor junior analysts and contribute to the overall development of the actuarial function.
