Newfields in Indianapolis, IN seeks a 1st Shift Control Room Operator to oversee security operations for the museum, including monitoring CCTV, alarms, and weather alerts. The role manages day-to-day security staff activities and ensures the perimeter is secure after hours.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in security, a high school diploma or GED, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Excellent communication and calmness under pressure are essential for this non-exempt position.

Qualifications

• Two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or GED and ability to complete required Security training.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Excel).
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, guests, and emergency responders.

Responsabilités

• Monitor traffic in galleries, grounds, and ANP via CCTV and radio.
• Maintain clear and professional communication over radio channels.
• Document all incidents, alarms, and activities in the Routine Daily Activities log.
• Report artwork-related incidents to the Registration department and manage emergency responses.
• Conduct and disperse daily inventory of keys, badges, and radios.
• Respond to emails via Outlook at shift start/end.
• Grant or remove access to badges via access control software.
• Monitor Simplex Fire systems and Andover/enteliWEB alarms.
• Control the Lutron lighting system during events and after hours.
• Notify Facilities staff of important alarms and weather-related alerts.
• Oversee motion alarms, badge activity, and remote door access control.
• Review CCTV feeds and footage for incidents or safety concerns.
• Communicate issues to the workforce promptly when detected.
• Document collected footage for later review.
• Answer incoming calls and direct callers to extensions.
