Job summary

SA Metal Group (Pty) Ltd in Cape Town is seeking a Control Room Manager to supervise the security control room, monitor CCTV and alarms, and report to the Security Manager.

The role requires extensive experience in security operations, leadership of a control room team, strong report writing, investigations, and liaison with authorities. It is a permanent, on-site position with provident fund, life cover, funeral cover and paid leave.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Grade A PSIRA certificate.
• Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook, CCTV).
• Valid driver's license.
• On-line vehicle tracking experience.
• At least 10 years' experience in a security control room.
• At least 5 years' experience managing a security control room team.
• Technical knowledge of CCTV, deep alert and dial up monitoring systems.
• Excellent report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the control room operators to ensure effective monitoring of security cameras and alarms.
• Ensure the safety of the SA Metal fleet and response activation.
• Assist security managers with incident investigations, tracking and detailed reporting.
• Conduct internal investigations into theft, fraud, misconduct, accidents and safety breaches.
• Gather, analyze and preserve evidence in accordance with procedures and legal requirements.
• Interview witnesses, suspects and employees for statements.
• Draft clear, factual investigation reports with findings and recommendations.
• Liaise with law enforcement and external agencies when required.
• Monitor compliance with company policies and access control systems.
• Support disciplinary processes by presenting findings and evidence.
• Conduct surveillance to prevent losses or breaches.
• Develop standard operating procedures for the control room.
• Train controllers to meet expectations and best practices.
• Ensure all Written Task Procedures are updated and understood.
• Inspect the control room occurrence book daily.
• Ensure security systems are operational and maintained.
• Record incidents accurately with timelines.
• Liaise with dispatch teams during emergencies.
• Compile incident reports and monthly reports.
• Lead the control room team with motivation, attendance and discipline.
• Maintain and administer security system processes.
• Maintain building alarm processes.
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as required.
• Adhere to Health & Safety regulations.
