Job summary

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium seeks a dedicated Veterinary Technician to join the Animal Health team in our brand-new 32,000 sq ft hospital. This full-time, non-exempt role supports preventative, routine, and emergency care for zoo, aquarium, and safari park animals.

Work includes anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, in-house labs, pharmacy support, and mentoring students. CE/licensure assistance provided; weekend hours required.

Qualifications

• Must have degree from AVMA-accredited veterinary technician program and VTNE passed.
• Must obtain Nebraska VT license within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team with high caseload and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the veterinary technician team to provide clinical support for preventative, routine, and emergency care for Zoo, Aquarium, and Safari Park animals.
• Assist in anesthesia monitoring and diagnostics (phlebotomy, radiographs, CT, blood work, cytologies).
• Provide in-house lab support and submit samples to outside labs; manage supply and equipment; assist with pharmacy tasks.
