Job summary

The Memphis Zoo is seeking a Zoo Hospital Manager to oversee administrative and practice management for the Veterinary Department, guiding Veterinary Technicians and Assistants to ensure high-quality animal care and compliant hospital operations.

This role leads staffing, budgeting, procurement, and safety programs, collaborating across departments to support exceptional patient care, staff engagement, and organizational success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of relevant experience in veterinary settings.
• Ability to lead and unite a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative oversight and expertise to the Veterinary Services Department, including purchasing, inventory management, invoice processing, budget tracking, and service contracts.
• Coordinates workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation for veterinary technicians and assistants.
• Submits work tickets for facilities and coordinates veterinary support for shipments and research requests.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with USDA, DEA, state veterinary regulations, AZA accreditation standards, and internal policies.
• Supports recruitment, onboarding, training documentation, and employee performance processes.
