Job summary

The Memphis Zoo seeks a Zoo Hospital Manager to lead the Veterinary Department’s administrative and medical operations. You will supervise Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with standards and regulatory requirements to support exceptional animal care.

As part of hospital leadership, you will foster collaboration, monitor performance, and implement efficient systems across hospital and zoo operations, including emergencies and audits.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of relevant experience ( Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant/Zookeeper).
• Ability to lead and develop a diverse veterinary team.
• Excellent facilitation and oral/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administrative and practice management for the Veterinary Department.
• Lead veterinary technicians and assistants; ensure animal care and hospital operations meet standards.
• Coordinate purchasing, inventory, budgeting, and preventive maintenance for medical equipment.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with USDA, DEA, state veterinary regs, AZA accreditation, and internal policies.
