Job summary

City of Abilene's Zoo guest services team is seeking an entry-level Guest Services Associate to greet visitors, answer questions, process payments, reservations, and provide information about zoo functions. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a Texas driver’s license, and the ability to work outdoors in heat or cold.

Training in Bloodborne Pathogens and HazCom will be provided, with flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Entry level position; previous experience is preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must have valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Bloodborne Pathogens and HazCom training required within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct visitors to the Abilene Zoo and answer general questions.
• Provide administrative support for the Guest Service Managers and Assistant Managers.
• Assist with general customer services, including answering guest inquiries, giving directions, and providing information about zoo functions and activities.
• Process incoming and outgoing calls; process register payments, reservation and visitation paperwork, attraction/ride/equipment operation, and food preparation.
• Maintain, inspect, clean, take inventory, and follow policies and procedures of assigned equipment, areas, and surrounding spaces.
• Assist with guest surveys and other reports.
• Guest Services employees over 18 may operate a City vehicle and/or motorized equipment.
• May assist with other Guest Services operations.
• Perform other job related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
