Job summary

Sedgwick County is seeking a hands-on Facilities Technician for the Zoo department in Wichita, KS. You will perform construction, maintenance, and repair work on exhibits and support structures, ensuring safety for animals, caretakers, and visitors.

Responsibilities include project planning, welding, testing, equipment troubleshooting, and interdepartmental event setup. A high school diploma and 2 years of related experience are required; a valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of professional maintenance/construction experience or related fields.
• Experience using a wide variety of electrical and hand tools.
• Valid US driver’s license without restrictions and proof of automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical work related to construction and maintenance of facilities.
• Participate in construction, maintenance, design, and implementation as requested by customer.
• Assist with special event setup, teardown, and staffing as needed.
• Interact with Zoo customers and provide quality service.
• Contribute to winter snow removal on-call rotation.
• Lend technical support for project plans and safety compliance.
• Weld and fabricate structures; lay out and prepare for concrete, rock, or asphalt work.
• Assist evaluations and updates to animal enclosures and habitats.
