Job summary

Fort Worth Zoo is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform a variety of semi-skilled duties related to the maintenance, repair and monitoring of Zoo facilities, equipment, systems, grounds and other general requirements.

The role requires staying current with water quality standards, using hand tools, and supporting other trades as needed. Candidates should have a couple of years in maintenance and a valid driver's license. This is an on-site position at the Fort Worth Zoo.

Qualifications

• Two years experience as a facilities maintenance technician or able to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed under duties.
• Familiar with maintenance/construction equipment and safety practices.
• Ability to operate various maintenance/construction equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of Fort Worth city codes as needed.
• Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain Zoo standards of insurability.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing and all mechanical equipment, systems and controls.
• Perform work orders assigned on plumbing, mechanical equipment systems and controls, construction, carpentry, welding or any other variety of duties.
• Troubleshoot and repair plumbing and all mechanical equipment systems and controls as necessary or directed.
• Monitor equipment and systems for proper and efficient operation.
• Operate all necessary hand tools and equipment to perform required duties.
• Perform custodial services required to maintain assigned buildings, facilities, equipment or grounds in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition.
• Determine necessary parts, equipment, tools and material for tasks and secure best source, price and quality.
• Track and log all time and materials used.
• Assist other trades as necessary.
