Job summary

Zoo New England Facilities is seeking a Facilities Technician to support maintenance of buildings, grounds and exhibits at Franklin Park and Stone Zoo. The role covers repairs and new construction under the supervision of Facilities leadership.

This full-time position requires ability to work indoors and outdoors, lift up to 50 pounds, and be on-call for evenings, weekends and holidays. Strong teamwork and reliability are essential to ensure safe, welcoming environments for guests and animals.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Ability to work outside in changing weather conditions and be available for 24-hour on-call.

Responsibilities

• Ability to work in web-based work order system.
• Perform electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and welding tasks.
• Use power and hand tools including saws, drills, planers, and ladders.
• Make repairs to existing structures and exhibits.
• Perform new construction following building codes.
• Work independently and in team settings.
• Communicate professionally with Zoo guests and employees.
• Operate maintenance vehicles as needed.
• Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Use CMMS and related software (Building Engines, Fleetio, Microsoft Office).

Performs manual labor as it relates to the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment at boththe FranklinParkand StoneZoo. Repair or modification of existing exhibits, and construction of new exhibitsin accordance withthe instructions profided by the Facilities Supervisor or Director. Ability to meet maintenance deadlines, work in a teamenvironmentas well as work independently with minimum supervision. Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to perform physical labor as defined by the projects at hand. Must be able to work weekend days and holidays on a rotating basis. Must be able tocomply withZNE’s essential staff requirements during emergency situations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ability to work inwebbasedwork order system.
• Ability to complete work ordersandpreventative maintenance assigned including, but not limited to, Electricaltroubleshooting, Carpentry repair, Plumbing troubleshooting,HVACand Welding.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Must be available for 24houron call as needed.
• Ability to work evenings,weekends,and holidays
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
• Perform all other duties such assnow removal as requested.
• Abilitytwork at both Franklin Park and Stone Zoo.
• Must be able to respond to on-call situations when scheduled.
