Job summary

Hamilton County in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Zoning Plans Examiner to review building and site plans for zoning compliance and to advise the public on zoning requirements. The role focuses on aligning projects with community regulations while maintaining accurate documentation and GIS data.

The successful candidate will manage zoning certificates, coordinate with boards, and ensure timely responses to inquiries. A bachelor’s in planning or related field or relevant experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in planning or related field, or 18 months of planning/ zoning experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
• 40-hour work week with core hours 7:30–5:30.

Responsibilities

• Review building and site plans for zoning code compliance using GIS and plan review software.
• Communicate with the public to explain zoning requirements and interpretations.
• Prepare and issue Zoning Certificates; file with boards and commissions as needed.
• Respond to inquiries by phone/email about zoning interpretations and statuses.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for cases with the Board of Zoning Appeals.
• Update GIS files and zoning maps and related information.
