Job summary

Town of Merrimack seeks an experienced planner to implement planning and zoning processes within the Community Development Department. The role provides administrative and technical support to the Community Development Director and Planning & Zoning Administrator to advance land use planning and development objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in planning or related field with relevant urban development background.
  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in zoning enforcement or municipal planning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and maintain valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organization and oversight for implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Prepare agendas, legal notices, memos, letters of decision, and meeting minutes for land use boards.
  • Review sign applications for zoning compliance and coordinate development-related activities with other departments.
  • Coordinate development review processes, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and prepare staff reports.
  • Research land use applications, conduct site visits, and maintain department records.
