The Department of Planning & Zoning is seeking a part-time office professional to support with communications and responses as part of the Town’s ongoing zoning enforcement program at time of real estate transfers. There is some flexibility with the work schedule within the Town’s standard hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The Zoning Compliance Specialist will focus on departmental administrative and customer service tasks related to permitting functions. This public-facing position is part of a small, team-oriented, collaborative environment that plays a vital role in connecting with and serving the community.
Drafts and issues Bianchi Letters (Zoning Compliance Letters), including research of Town documents to confirm compliance, facilitating after-the-fact building & zoning permits, Certificates of Occupancy, and scheduling site visits. Collectsand processespayments associated with Bianchi Letters. Consults directly with property owners, contractors or others to answer questions regarding Building & Zoning permits. Facilitatesfile management to support building and zoning permits and Bianchi letter processes.Investigates zoning and land use complaints, as time allows and as part of the overall efforts of the Planning & Zoning Department.
The ideal candidate will have a customer service mindset, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and a positive attitude, with the desire to always work towards a solution. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and the ability to learn specialized software. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Pay for this position is $25/hr.
