Job summary

Monument Town is seeking a Planner I – Zoning and Land Use Code Compliance to inspect properties, enforce ordinances, and educate the public on planning policies. The position reports to the Director of Planning and requires field and office work in varying conditions.

Hiring Range: $64,795-$73,053 per year. A bachelor’s degree and municipal experience are preferred; drug screening and background check are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related area of study.
• Knowledge of urban planning (urban, regional, land use) for municipal government.
• Experience in a municipal setting.
• Pass of drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Investigate complaints and follow up with property owners and responsible parties regarding zoning and land use violations.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with town ordinances.
• Enforce town ordinances, including removing unpermitted signs and issuing citations when necessary.
• Prepare reports and provide documentation for court proceedings and hearings.
