Zone Engineer Production (Open)
Location: Independence, OH – Rockside Woods Blvd – Management – AMG‑Corp
Join our dynamic team at Airgas. As a Zone Engineer Production, you will supervise the operations of the unit, organize plant activity/workflow, and interface with other teams (Industrial/Maintenance, SIO Center, Business Developer, etc.).
Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Supports and complies with all safety, health, and environmental procedures directed by local and corporate personnel and safety departments.
- Supports and complies with all process safety management and risk management plan practices.
- Supports operation permit reporting and monitoring requirements, in compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
- Supports all personnel policies directed by local and corporate personnel.
Project Management & Engineering Design
- Define, design, specify, steward costs, and implement projects generated by a technical problem or unique plant requirement to improve safety, reliability, or efficiency.
- Design plant processes consisting of instruments, controls, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems, utilizing and applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Guide, coordinate, and facilitate collaborative alignment for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility.
- Develop economic cost justification for capital improvements.
Process Optimization & Efficiency
- Recommend changes in process to achieve the greatest economy in production methods and material cost.
- Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to resolve malfunctions and support smooth operations.
- Set up and conduct tests of complete units under operational conditions and analyze test results relative to design specifications; refine or adjust equipment to align with safety and quality standards.
- Partner to plan utilization of production facilities to improve operational efficiency.
Technical & Operational Support
- Provide technical support for plant production and maintenance as required; offer on‑call assistance to plant personnel.
- Support plant DCS (Distributed Control System).
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred).
- 2 years of operational or engineering experience.
Preferred
- Solution‑oriented with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to gain technical knowledge in operation and maintenance of Air Separation, CO, VSA and Onsite N2/O2 Plants.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel.
- Capability to perform under stress and time constraints.
- Comfortable in both corporate and field environments.
- Problem‑solving ability to define, design, specify, control costs and implement projects generated by a technical problem or unique customer or field production requirement.
- Demonstrated personal integrity and transparency.
- Ability to make sound judgment, timely decisions, manage multiple tasks and prioritize/delegate work effectively.
- Effective communication with project stakeholders; fluent in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to write routine business reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees and/or customers.
