Job summary

Airgas is hiring a Production Technician I in Bozrah, CT to safely steward a large gas production facility and sustain plant operations. The role focuses on process knowledge, regulatory compliance, and teamwork to meet production goals and maintain safety standards.

The position offers hourly pay of $30–$32 with a 4% annual bonus and a 12-hour rotating shift. Travel is minimal and on-call work may be required as part of the rotating schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Willingness to work a flexible 12-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and sustain a large Airgas Merchant Gas Air Separation Production facility safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in Time-Out investigations and document incidents using Intelex; assist with work orders and training tasks.
  • Learn all plant operations, processes, and equipment; become familiar with site action plans.
  • Support on-site contractors and vendors; coordinate training requirements and perform delegated administrative tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, cGMP and company policies including MOC and PPSR processes.
  • Coordinate with product scheduling to meet customer delivery requirements and complete related reporting.
  • Model safety practices and comply with Training programs; complete HSEQ training requirements.
  • Complete Airgas Safety Pledge and understand training requirements.

The core contribution of a Production Technician is the safe stewardship and sustaining of a large Airgas Merchant Gas Air Separation Production facility. The Production Technician is dedicated to sustaining plant production, operating efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety.

  • Pay: $30-$32 per hour
  • Annual Bonus: 4%
  • Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating shift
  • Travel: 0 - 5% based on business needs
  • On Call as required
Job responsibilities
  • Cultivates and shares basic skills for the process plant. Works in partnership with more senior technicians while completing training tasks.
  • Participate in Time-Out investigations, document incidents, retrieve Airgas and site-specific operating procedures, incident/injury reporting, etc in the document management software, Intelex, familiarizing oneself with the work order process and participating in essential support tasks.
  • Acquire knowledge and abilities in all plant operations including processes and equipment and becoming familiar with site-specific action plans.
  • Support and confirm on-site contractors, vendors, guests, or visitors site-specific training requirements are met and documented, and performing administrative coordination responsibilities as delegated by the Plant Manager.
  • Exhibit the understanding of and perform job duties in compliance with all local and federal governmental regulations (Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), etc.), and all company policies and procedures including Management of Change (MOC's), Pre-Startup Safety Review (PPSR's), etc.
  • Collaborate with national and local product scheduling to meet customer requirements and ensuring customer product delivery requirements, pertinent documentation and affiliated reporting requirements are completed on time and with exceptional accuracy.
  • Dedicated commitment to company policies, safety guidelines, and procedural standards, as well as championing safety within the team by being safety minded and modeling good safety practices as well as compliance to Qualification and Training program in company electronic training systems.
  • Completion of the Airgas Safety Pledge and being familiar with the requirements as well as completing introductory Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) training.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, which includes 12-hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation.
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-5 years experience working in an industrial facility
  • Experience dealing with cryogenics
