Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Scientist in Bethesda, MD for a full-time, on-site role. You will breed and culture zebrafish, perform FISH and microscopy, and generate transgenic lines while advancing gene function studies.

Required PhD with substantial related experience or MS with extensive expertise in fish genetics. Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a public trust; active trust is preferred.

Qualifications

• PhD required with 4+ years of related experience or a master's with 6+ years.
• Experience in FISH and microscopy is essential.
• Deep knowledge of fish genetics and asexual reproduction.]
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; adjudication required before onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Breed and cross different fish colonies.
• Culture primary cells collected from fish germline or soma.
• Fix and immunostain cells and tissues collected from fish.
• Perform traditional and Gateway cloning to tag genes with fluorescent and non-fluorescent tags.
• Generate mutant gene alleles for structure–function studies.
• Record and interpret experimental research data.
• Review and discuss experimental results.
• Train others to perform biological assays.
• Create and maintain zebrafish transgenic animals.
