Role: Z/OS System Programmer

Location: US Remote

Job Description:

• Extensive experience with IBM z/OS operating systems (zOS 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 3.1)
• Experience in z/OS Datacenter migrations
• Knowledge of Mainframe Architecture and environment setup
• Coordination with vendors for hardware/software upgrades
• Leading mainframe hardware configuration and lifecycle management
• Addressing technical issues during Datacenter migrations
• Supporting mainframe hardware including monitoring, troubleshooting, and vendor escalation
• Understanding of business applications
• Knowledge of z/OS Data Replication and related strategies
• Experience with mainframe LPAR, Parallel Sysplex, SSI Clusters, GDPS
• Configuration and setup of z/OS MF
• Collaboration with architects and vendors, project communication
• Migration planning including hardware, software, and data gathering
• Expertise in IOCP, IOCDS, IODF, HCD
• Knowledge of replication services and hardware sharing
• Navigation of mainframe systems like zOS
• Supporting mainframe infrastructure, disaster recovery, and resiliency
• Providing technical leadership for system stability and efficiency
• Engaging in technical discussions on installations and upgrades
• Leading testing, troubleshooting, and system modifications
• Hardware knowledge including CEC, DASD, VTS, HMC, FICON
• Project progress reporting and compliance adherence
• Developing disaster recovery and BCP plans
• Reviewing technical scope with clients and subcontractors
• Maintaining hardware inventory and reports
• Assessing IT infrastructure upgrade paths for improvements
• Knowledge of ITIL principles
• Programming skills in REXX, COBOL, ASBMLR, etc., are a plus
• Decisive, quick decision-making in IT business scenarios
• Ambition and technical ability to manage projects independently
