Job summary

The Guidance Center in Leavenworth, KS is seeking a part-time Youth Psychosocial Program Group Leader Assistant to join our interdisciplinary team. The role provides attendant care and supports youth in the YPP program, with evening shifts after 5 p.m.

You will facilitate groups, encourage client engagement, transport when needed, and document notes in line with our Quality Improvement standards. High school diploma or equivalent required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Must have completed one year of college coursework in human services, or one year of experience in the field, or a one-year combination of education and work experience.
• Preferred: experience in community-based mental health or related settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with promoting successful group interactions among clients.
• Encourage and support clients’ engagement in YPP activities.
• Support clients’ efforts to problem-solve and interact with others.
• Work respectfully with parents/caregivers, while observing boundaries.
• Serve as Attendant on van transportation routes as assigned.
• Facilitate/co-facilitate groups as assigned.
• Transport clients to and from appointments and activities when necessary.
• Organize work to meet direct service expectations and Center requirements.

The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. Youth Psychosocial ProgramGroup Leader Assistant - PT to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position provides attendant care services to clients participatingin the Center’s YPP program. Evenings Required (1+ days per week after 5 p).

Primary Duties:

1. Assist with promoting successful group interactions among consumers
2. Encourage and support clients’ engagement in YPP activities
3. Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact with others
4. Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, whileobserving appropriate boundaries
5. Serve as Attendant on van transportation routes as assigned
6. Facilitate/co-facilitate groups as assigned
7. Transport clients to and from appointments and activities when necessary.
8. Understand direct service requirements and efficiency goalsestablishedby TGC for the position, and achieve same
9. Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) whichcomplies withTGC’s Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources.
10. Be able to organize worktomeet direct service expectations and Center requirements.

Requirements

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or GED required.

Must have completed one year of college course work in the field of human services, or have one year of experience in the field of human services, or

oneyearcombination of education and work experience in the field of human services

EXPERIENCE:

Required: atleast 6 months experience working with individuals in the community. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.

Preferred: experience working with individuals with mental health issues.
