Job summary

The Guidance Center seeks a Youth Attendant/Respite Care Worker to support youth in the CBS program. You will supervise youth during Respite services and provide attendant care to promote daily living skills, safety, and engagement in activities.

Evenings and weekends are required; the role offers a competitive hourly rate and benefits as part of a supportive, collaborative team dedicated to compassionate community mental health services in Kansas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; must be 21+ years old.
• Six months experience working with youth; practicum or volunteer work accepted.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youth attending Respite services.
• Engage youth in structured activities to create a safe and productive environment.
• Follow KDHE and TGC disciplinary policies when redirecting youth.
• Provide attendant care to promote completion of daily activities.
• Encourage engagement in pro-social activities.
• Support problem-solving and positive interactions with others.
• Transport clients to activities or appointments when necessary.

The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Youth Attendant/Respite Care Worker to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. This position will provide attendant careand/or respite careservices toyouthbeing served throughthe Center’sCBSprogram. Evenings Required (1+ days per week after 5 p); weekends Required.

Primary Duties:

Respite:

1. Supervise youth attending Respite services
2. Engageyouthinstructured activities to create a safe and productive environment.
3. Abide byKDHE and TGCdisciplinary policies and procedures when redirecting youth.

Attendant Care:

1. Provide attendant care services whichassistwith promoting successful completion of daily activities

2. Encourage and support clients’ engagement in pro-social activities

3. Encourage and support clients’ efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact successfully with others

4. Work respectfully and supportively with clients’ parents/caregivers, whileobserving appropriate boundaries

5. Transport clients to and from activities or appointments when necessary. Serve asTransportationAttendant on transportation routes whenrequired.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE:

High schoolgraduateor GEDrequired.Mustbe 21 years of age or older and have sixmonthsexperience working withyouth.Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.

Preferred: Oneyear of college course work or oneyearexperience in the field of human services or a combinationof each;experience working withyouthwith mental health issues.
