Job summary

The Guidance Center Inc. in Leavenworth, KS is seeking a Part-Time Mental Health Technician to join our interdisciplinary team. The Crisis Stabilization Tech will support clients in outpatient and inpatient settings, assist with hygiene, nutrition, medications, and daily unit operations, and serve as a liaison to internal and external partners.

Weekend and evening shifts are required. A two-person mobile crisis response across Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson counties involves building

• Associate degree or two years of equivalent education/experience in human services.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-1 supportive care including hygiene, nutrition, and medication documentation.
• Act as a resource to clients to facilitate activities and functioning.
• Initiate de-escalation procedures per MANDT and Mental Health First Aid.
• Provide feedback to providers to ensure quality patient care.
• Participate in daily treatment team meetings.
• Maintain unit and perform housekeeping duties.
• Respond to crises in Leavenworth, Atchison and Jefferson counties with mobile interventions.

The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Mental Health Technician - PT to be the newest member of our innovative interdisciplinary team. The Crisis Stabilization Mental Health Tech will work collaboratively with a team to provide care toclientson an outpatient and inpatient basis.They willassistin the general monitoring and care of theclients,as well asdaily operations and housekeeping of the unit.They will act as a liaisonin providing information to internal as well as externalparties and agencies.Weekends Required;Evenings Required (1+ days per week after 5 p);Saturday and Sunday 8 AM to 8 PM + Tuesday 4 PM to 12 AM

• Competitive hourly compensation of $20.28 to $22.76, depending upon qualifications

Primary Duties:

1. Provide 1-1supportive carebased on client’s needs, including hygiene, nutrition, and medication, whilemaintainingappropriate documentation.
2. Act as a resource toclient for activitiestofacilitateincreased stability in functioning.
3. Initiate de-escalationprocedures whenappropriate,consistentwith MANDTand Mental Health First Aidprocedures.
4. Provideaccurateand relevantfeedback toproviderstoensureoptimalpatient care.
5. Participate in dailytreatment team meetings.
6. Maintain unit through regular housekeepingduties.
7. Respond across Leavenworth,Atchisonand Jefferson County as part of a 2-person team, providing mobile crisis interventions to a variety of individuals in crisis.
8. Engaging individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis by building rapport, assessing motivation, and encouraging participation in services.
9. Using a Strengths Based perspective to assess individuals' circumstances toidentifyneeds and/ordetermineresource eligibility.
10. Initiate de-escalation procedures whenappropriate, consistent with MANDT and Mental Health First Aid procedures.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 21 years of age,and have an Associate of Arts / Sciencedegree, or two years of equivalent education and or experience working in the human services field.
